Relaxation times do not capture logical qubit dynamics

چکیده
Quantum error correction procedures have the potential to enable faithful operation of large-scale quantum computers. They protect information from environmental decoherence by storing it in logical qubits, built ensembles entangled physical qubits according suitably tailored correcting encodings. To date, no generally accepted framework characterise behaviour as memories has been developed. In this work, we show that generalisations well-established figures merit such relaxation times, fail and do not capture dynamics qubits. We experimentally illustrate that, particular, spatial noise correlations can give rise rich counter-intuitive dynamical behavior a suitable set observables, formed code space population operators within space, allows one track characterize Awareness these effects efficient characterisation tools used work will help guide benchmark experimental implementations

Relaxation times in an open interacting two-qubit system
In a two-qubit system the coupling with an environment considerably affects the entanglement dynamics, usually leads to the loss of entanglement within a finite time. Since entanglement is a key feature in the application of such systems to quantum information processing, it is highly desirable to find a way to prolonging its lifetime. We present a simple model of an interacting two-qubit syste...
متن کاملWhy Views Do Not Provide Logical Data Independence
Most Information systerns are subject to changing requirements that can lead to alterations of the underlying database schema. Part of these alterations are information-preserving and can be regarded as schema restructuring. One of the objectives of the relational model is to provide logical data independence, i.e. to insulate appllcatlon programs from the effects of information-preserving chan...
متن کاملNew objects do not capture attention without a sensory transient.
Attention capture occurs when a stimulus event involuntarily recruits attention. The abrupt appearance of a new object is perhaps the most well-studied attention-capturing event, yet there is debate over the root cause of this capture. Does a new object capture attention because it involves the creation of a new object representation or because its appearance creates a characteristic luminance ...
متن کاملConcave Renewal Functions Do Not Imply Dfr Interrenewal Times
Brown (1980), (1981) proved that the renewal function is concave if the interrenewal distribution is DFR (decreasing failure rate), and conjectured the converse. This note settles Brown’s conjecture with a class of counterexamples. We also give a short proof of Shanthikumar’s (1988) result that the DFR property is closed under geometric compounding.
متن کاملRelaxation times for Hamiltonian systems
Usually, the relaxation times of a gas are estimated in the frame of the Boltzmann equation. In this paper, instead, we deal with the relaxation problem in the frame of the dynamical theory of Hamiltonian systems, in which the definition itself of a relaxation time is an open question. We introduce a lower bound for the relaxation time, and give a general theorem for estimating it. Then we give...
